Survival in the wild is incredibly tough. Predators often exploit moments of vulnerability to capture their prey. In the following clip, a mother ostrich faces a life-threatening situation when a lion ambushes her, yet she bravely defends her chicks.

In the video, the ostrich family is seen foraging in a meadow when a lion suddenly charges at them. The swift predator grabs the baby ostriches, who are still very fragile and unable to defend themselves.

As the lion kills one of the chicks, the mother ostrich becomes enraged. She charges at the lion, snatching her chick from its jaws and moving it to safety.

The determined mother continues to protect the remaining chicks, using her powerful legs to fend off the lion before quickly fleeing with her young ones.
